The NASCAR All-Star race last Sunday at North Wilkesboro witnessed a dramatic end when the promoters caution changed race dynamic and Chrsitopher Bell used it to his advantage to beat Joey Logano. The reigning champion was furious over the gimmick that cost him $1 million as well as the aggressive moves used by the JGR driver to overtake him.

On his post-race interview after ranting about NASCAR’s caution call, Joey Logano threatened Christopher Bell, reminding him that he will not be forgetting the incident anytime soon. But now the three times Cup Series champion had back tracked his claims, once he realized he made Bell to make those aggressive moves with his defensive moves on the track.

It’s hypocritical to complain about an aggressive passing, when the driver has been running his rival up and down the track for multiple laps. Joey Logano over the years have employed the same move to pass his rivals and most them weren’t as clean and times as the pass from Bell for the win last Sunday.

When I went back and re-watched it, I was like, that wasn’t as bad as I thought it was. If he did that [move Logano up the track] the first time he got to me, I’d be like, ‘Dude, why would you do that?’ But he made solid attempts to pass me. I ran him all up and down the racetrack. So, I opened the door. Like, at that point, I opened the door [to more aggressive racing] ….

Joey Logano told Dustin Long of NBC Sports.

Further talking about point, Logano blatantly admitted that the duo raced like a**holes became he open the door for it and he was pissed at Bell because he though he was used up. The veteran showed his maturity by owing to his mistake instead not just overlooking it. But unfortunately, the NASCAR fans missed an opportunity to witness a veteran vs youngster beef.

I set the tone that we’re going to race like a**holes. It’s OK that he did that to me. But in the moment, you’re just pissed, right? You’re just like, ‘He ran me up the track.’ Then, when I watched it, I was like, ‘Nah, it’s probably warranted.’ So, I shouldn’t have said that [after the race]. You’re mad. It is what it is.

Joey Logano added.

Joey Logano admits he would have made the same move as Christopher Bell

In the same conversation, Joey Logano admitted that if the roles were reversed in the dual, he would have made the same move as Bell. Aggressive racing is the only way to pass a rival that is aggressively blocking you. He then admitted that he can’t help himself but make such comments as he always has been a sore loser.

He knocked me up and then moved me up. Would I have done the same? Probably. Especially after someone ran me all over the racetrack like I did, I probably would have done the same. I’m a really bad loser. I’m a sore loser. I can’t help it. It is who I am, but I think that’s also what makes us winners.

Joey Logano said.

The admission from Logano, is exactly what Christopher Bell said earlier when he 3was asked about the ringing champion threats. He reminded the veteran that he has been at the receiving end of such moves a very few times and most often has been veteran. It would be interesting to see the drama would generate a healthy duel between two in the coming races of 2025.
