Since winning the first Cup championship in the Next-Gen era, Team Penske Racing’s Joey Logano is going through a rough patch. He has won just one race in the last two years and hasn’t been in contention for wins as often as a driver of his calibre should be in. He had one of the worst starts of his career to a season this year.
With the regular season approaching the mid-way, the No:22 Ford team is outside the playoff spot in the points table and hasn’t shown signs of competing for wins at least once. Joey Logano is currently P17 in the points table behind Bubba Wallace who is at P16. The team has recently shown some signs of a comeback hence Logano is confident that they are not in a bad spot.
He pointed out that the season so far hasn’t gone the way he expected it to go and he hasn’t secured the pointed he wanted. But there are still in the fight and are not in a bad spot, but are in spot that isn’t good enough for the standard he has set for himself over the years. He is confident that he and his crew can definitely make up for the points soon.
We’re halfway through the regular season and, obviously, it’s not been the season that we’ve wanted or have hoped for at this point. But we keep fighting. I don’t feel like we’re in a bad spot. We’re not in as good a spot as we want to be by [any] means, but we can definitely make up the points.Joey Logano said via RACER.
Joey Logano is looking forward to the coming race weeks
The future Hall of Famer has a good feeling about the upcoming races at Charlotte, Gateway, Sonoma and Iowa. With the changes made to few tracks and the characteristic of these tracks gives him some hopes going into these races.
The [Coke] 600, I think I feel OK about. Gateway has been a solid race for us the last two times we’ve been there, so I look forward to that one. Sonoma is repaved, so who the heck knows? Then Iowa — new tracks have been good, and short tracks have been good for us, as well. I like the way the schedule’s lined up the next few weeks.Joey Logano said.
The No:22 team has the best opportunity to secure some momentum this week at North Wilkesboro All Star race weekend. He is starting the race on pole. Hence, he has the best chance to win $ 1 million and secure a much-needed positive momentum for the whole Team Penske garage.
