The 2024 NASCAR playoff season had wild start with the plate race as Atlanta Motor Speedway serving as the R-16 opener. Two times champion Joey Logano secured a statement win and marked his place in the R-12, as he missed out on a promotion last season to the second post-season run over inconsistency.

The Team Penske driver decided to have some fun with the media after the race and hilariously refused to explain the team strategy that helped Ryan Blaney give him a solid push on the way to win. Joey Logano said that it was the result of the lot team wise and stearate preparations they have done throughout the year.

I can’t tell you (smiling). I’m not going to tell you. Nothing against you, I just wouldn’t tell anybody. Like I said, we go over a lot of stuff together. We prep a lot together, separately and together sometimes.
Joey Logano said while smiling.

He went on to discuss how Superspeedway racing is very interesting and different according tracks in the Next-Gen era. So the best way to win races, if one racer has the fastest car of the day is capitalize on it as a team.

Speedway racing these days, it’s just so interesting. Every track is a little bit different, Daytona, Talladega, Atlanta, all kind of a breed of their own. When you have fast cars like we do right now on these speedways, it’s important for to us capitalize as a team.
Joey Logano added.

The win is really special for Joey Logano

In a separate interview the former champion explained the significant of the win for him. He pointed out that having missed out on the R-12 last year, its kind of redemption for him to already secure the spot. He also admitted that hang better days on Superspeedways is always a good feeling as he most often wrecks out there.

We didn’t (advance out of the first round) last year and it hurt a lot, but they just give me really fast cars on superspeedways and we always find ourselves towards the front of them, we just end up wrecking more times than not.
Joey Logano told NBC.

Another factor that makes the win special is the connection he has with the track. He has lived in Atlanta for many years dreaming of finally scoring a win the track, so this triumph makes it a special outing.

So, to be able to finally capitalize on a fast race car and win here in Atlanta again, I lived right over there in condo 805 for a long time, waking up dreaming of just racing on this racetrack, so pulling into Victory Lane here is always a special one. We had such a really good team here today.
Joey Logano added.

The win and the overall attitude at the No:22 garage has given Logano a huge advantage going into the next-round. It will be interesting to see how the team would perform in the remaining nine race of the season.
