Team Penske Racing’s Joey Logano is one of the greatest racers in the history of the sport and a future first ballot Hall of Famer. He has secured 37 race wins, as well as three Cup championship by cracking the code to thrive in the playoff era. The veteran is now 35 years old, and the time has come for the Ford racer to enter the final chapter of his racing career.

At the moment Joey Logano is the reigning champion and is in the prime of his career, but he won’t be able to perform on the same level for another decade. 2025 is his 16th season in the sport, as he started his racing career much earlier than many of his compatriots, and in four more years he will get into the two-decade mark, past which only a handful of racers have driver good in the sport.

Ahead of the Dover Cup Serie race, Joey Logano talked about his plans for the future and what will inspire him to finally walk away from the sport he loves. He admitted that his primary objective is winning, and he will race in the sport as long as he can match that standard. This shows his champion mentality that yielded him the titles, winning is more important that just racing.

I always say as long as I can win. I really feel like that’s the standard for me. I love racing, but I really love winning a lot more.

He admitted that he grew up dreaming becoming a NASCAR race winner as well as a champion of the sport, while also helping his team to remain on the top. If he feels like he isn’t no longer able to live that dream, he wont stick around the sport and will move on to other racing series or events where he can a strong competitor.

If I can go race other things and win, I’ll go and do that, but my dream has always been to be a NASCAR driver, be a NASCAR champion, and if I can win and be a help to my team, then I want to stick around.

One of the big rule Joey Logano has about the longevity of his career is that he doesn’t want be a driver that overstays his welcome in the sport. There were some of the best racers ever in the sport, namely Mark Martin, Michael Waltrip and more who raced way past their prime in the sport, racing without wins.

I don’t want to stick around and be one of those guys where people say, ‘Man, he went a few years too long. You don’t want to be that guy.

Though Joey Logano knowns he is going get rusty with his racing soon, the time hasn’t come yet. At the moment, he is feelings as fresh and sharper as he has ever been. He is inspired and driven to get more race wins as well as more championship to Penske, the team that gave him second chance when his career was at cross roads following JGR exit in 2012.

Something changes at some point. But right now, I still feel as fresh as ever. I feel as sharp as ever. I’m driven as much as ever. I still care. I still get emotional about things.
