Three times NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Lognao has always been the target of critics owing to his divisive actions on and off the track.  Recently he was slammed by many for defending the one-race season finale format, while a majority of the stock car racing community advocating for the return of full-season format.

Ahead of the Talladega Superspeedway race weekend, Joey Logano shared his thoughts on them and took some bold digs. He hilariously claimed that his haters don’t like the fact that he is living the childhood dream with a huge smile on his face, getting paid for racing cars and winning championships.

They hate me because I smile. Look what we get to do. This was your childhood dream. You’re gonna complain about your childhood dream? The fact is you’re getting paid to drive a race car. And the fact is you’re not happy about it. That’s a problem. I don’t get that. I’ll never understand that.

Joey Logano said via Sportsnaut.com.

The veteran reminded that smiling and cherishing what he has is part of his character, and he is happy with his haters being frustrated with him. Both the critics and the racer seem to be taking digs personally, shifting the focus away from the fact that the championship format needs a change for the better.

I’m like, ‘What do you want me to do? Not smile like this? Not be me?’… I’m happy. Scr-w these people.

Joey Logano shares his plans to get into the championship-4 race

The reigning champion has found himself in a concerning situation going into the second race of the R-8 at Talladega, with him being 20+ points shy of the cutoff line. Despite the point situation, he doesn’t think he is in a must-win situation and asserted that he can get promoted on points, by maximizing performance at Dega.

Well, I don’t see why you wouldn’t go for the points. We gotta go for the points in our position. There might be some cars that don’t need to go for the points, or they’re in different positions. You know, you kinda gotta know what your competitors’ goals are when you get to the race track. especially here. But yeah, for us, we need to get the points, it’s pretty obvious.

Joey Logano responded.

Further talking about the point, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver pointed out that the major objective for them isn’t just finishing ahead at the end of the race, as he also wants to maximize stage points. He believes the maths is on his side to point his way into the finale, if not for a win, at Dega and Martinsville, the R-8 finale.

I can talk about that. It’s pretty obvious we need to get the stage points. In my mind, I think we’ve gotta top-five every stage and top-five both races. You know, so four stages and two races to have a chance to point in. That’s my opinion. I don’t know what math backs that up, it’s just kinda what I think in my mind we have to do to point our way in. Which is possible, very possible.

Joey Logano added.

The comments from the Team Penske Racing Ford driver seems reasonable to a point, as the success of his plan is depended upon the bad luck of the remaining drivers in the championship chase. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver in the coming races and whether he can continue the Next-Gen era dominance of his team.
