The 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season so far hasn’t been kind to three times Cup Series champion Joey Logano. He is yet to secure a top-10 finish in the season and P15 finishes at Las Vegas as well as COTA were his best moments this year. The worst day of the year for the veteran was last Sunday at Darlington.
The No:22 Ford Mustang qualified P29 in the race, went a lap down on the first stage and went on to finish the Goodyear 400 at P33. It was a day to forget for the whole Team Penske crew, as they were baffled by the results just like the racer. The veteran was pissed of the whole race, as nothing they did in the day earned them a positive result.
First off, you’re kind of like, ‘What’s going on?’ You’re trying to fix it and swing the bat a couple of times and make minor progress, if any. Then you start to get pissed off. That’s the normal reaction.
Joey Logano said ahead of Martinsville race.
Further talking about the point, the champion raced admitted that he was depressed and embarrassed over last Sunday’s race. But Joey Logano is determined to take advantage of the adverse moment, as he knows losing races yield drivers that are capable of winning them, it’s all about learning from mistakes.
By the end, you’re a little depressed. Then you’re a little embarrassed at the end of all that, even. So, you get all the negative emotions. It’s part of competing. If you want the glory of winning, sometimes you have to go through the agony of defeat. Yeah, you go through them all. If you care about things and try hard enough, you’re going to feel all those things when it doesn’t go right.

Joey Logano refuses to hit the panic button over poor Darlington result
In the same conversation later, the veteran talked about how the No:22 crew hasn’t hit the panic button yet over the poor start to the season. He knows there is a strong crew behind them that could help them get the redemption sooner than later.

We got a great team. We got a great pit crew. We got a great crew chief, car chief. Everybody is good. We just had an off day. We just missed it. That happens sometimes, but that doesn’t mean total panic button yet.
Joey Logano asserted.
Further talking about the point, the champion driver pointed out that such challenging days are part of every racer career and how they overcome it will be the factor that will mater the most. He is working hard behind the scene to move on from the challenges.
You have to relive it. The easy thing to do and what you want to do is pull out of the racetrack and forget about it. Unfortunately, you can’t do that because if you do, you’ll probably have more of those days. So, you have to relive it another day or two and go through every detail and relive the misery one more time. But that’s a part of life. You do that and you move on.
Joey Logano added.
The comments from the champion driver are on point, and shows how he still confident about his team. It would be interesting to see how many more races ot will take for the veteran to get back to winning ways in 2026.
