The 2025 NASCAR season marked the start of some big changes at Trackhouse Racing. The team gave Shane van Gisbergen a full-time Cup debut, promoted Conor Zilisch to Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports and popstar Pitbull sold his shares on the team, giving Justin Marks full control. The latest addition to the list was Daniel Saurez’s upcoming exit from the end of 2025.
The team decided to mutually part ways with the driver that has been with them since day one of their Cup race, earning them two wins in the last four years and producing historical moments. Ahead of the Chicago Street race week, Daniel Suarez made some comments suggesting that their relationship has soured and it influenced the exit decision. Now team owner Justin Marks has finally publicly addressed the drama.
Look, Daniel’s been a huge part of this company for four and a half years now. And when we sat down and looked at our, kind of mapped out our three-year and our five-year plan and sort of the sponsorships and kind of like everything that we’re trying to accomplish over the next really five years…we just got to a point where we felt…it just was time to move on.

The comments shows that the duo found themselves in a situation where, they no longer have a future together in the long-term. The comments show despite having close relation they had to make the call, as the exit will give the team opportunity to give the ride to a new driver as well as explore new sponsorship opportunities.
At the moment, the best decision for the team is to find ways to grow in the future without their star Mexican-American driver. When asked about the state of their relationship, he asserted that they have had wholesome conversations about their time together and their accomplishments together for Trackhouse Racing. Their dynamic is still positive despite the drama round the exit.
As we grow and as the team grows, obviously we have to identify different opportunities. Look, Daniel has been a huge part of this company and a great friend of mine. We met last night, me and him in the hotel for an hour down in the lobby and we just talked about our time together, everything that we’ve accomplished together, and him and I are in a really good place.

Daniel Saurez admits there in no chemistry for him at Justin Marks’ Trackhouse Racing
One of the most dramatic comments Daniel Suarez has shared ahead of the Chicago weekend’s how Trackhouse Racing has changed a lot in the last 10 months. He feels like in some occasions that they have lost the chemistry between them and are currently kind of tolerating each other like some couples.

There have been several situations in the last eight months, 10 months, that I haven’t felt like I used to for different situations. Sometimes when you don’t have that feel, there is no chemistry anymore. It’s like being in a relationship and living together because you bought a house together.
Daniel Suarez said.
The comments from Suarez and Marks showed that both parties involved kind of lost the confidence that had on each other, which has been a significant factor in the success they have had in the last four years. So, it was the right time to make the change for both parties involved and explore the future ahead of them in the sport.
