Kenny Wallace made his debut in the Cup Series in 1990. The 60-year-old raced against NASCAR’s one of the most revered drivers in the form of Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, and many more. Witnessing this trend of fans and experts only reminiscing about drivers who raced before 2006, he made a bold claim that the current generation of NASCAR drivers are lost.
The Cup Series has always been the playing ground for legends in stock car racing. Richard Petty won 200 races in his career, a feat that no driver has ever come close to, and that too at a time when safety was often compromised in favor of performance. His amazing statistics often astound the current generation of drivers when winning 30-40 races is often considered more than enough for some people.
However, former driver Kenny Wallace did not appreciate this change in mentality. The veteran admitted that he feels the current generation of drivers is lost compared to their older counterparts.
Sometimes I feel like the @NASCAR years “2006 to NOW” are a (lost generation) in NASCAR racing. When anyone talks about NASCAR they ALWAYS go to the years 1980’s to 2006.Kenny Wallace wrote
The 60-year-old’s statement made rounds of the field as current drivers were thrown under the bus despite their abilities. On the other hand, fans agreed with his statement and further criticized the championship for implementing changes that increased entertainment but tampered with the spirit of the sport.
Kenny Wallace reckons Kyle Busch might be in the run for a drive at Spire Motorsports
Wallace was recently soaring headlines as he decided to boycott the Paris Olympics. On the other hand, Corey LaJoie was recently made aware of his departure from Spire Motorsports. This has left the team to find a replacement for the outgoing 32-year-old, who would leave the team after the conclusion of the 2024 season.

Regardless of the rumors, Wallace reckoned that Kyle Busch might leave RCR for a drive at SM. However, he admitted that Richard Childress would not let a star driver like Busch leave the team so easily and would try to hold on to him as he is one of the fan favorites.
I really don't know who's gonna go over there to Spire. I mean, if I'm to believe people, so far, here's what I'll say, I'll end it like this. It would be shocking news if Kyle Busch went to Spire. Just because I know Richard Childress is a gamer. He ain't gonna let nobody walk all over him.Kenny Wallace said on his podcast
Apart from this, the No.8 driver has the highest amount of wins among his rivals. He currently has 63 wins and would like to extend his tally further in the upcoming races, or else he would miss out on making the playoffs as he currently stands 18th in the standings.
