The 2024 NASCAR season saw some controversial moments regarding the new charter deal and the negotiations. The drama resulted in 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports refusing to sign the new deal, as well as suing the sanctioning body. Though NASCAR won the initial filings regarding injunctions, they lost filings over the team’s eligibility as well as charter purchases, when new judge took over the case.
Recently the 2014 Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick, via his podcast Happy Hour for Fox Sports, shared his feelings about the where the lawsuit at with the 2025 season just starting. He admitted that that he feels that the confusion about charter are solves and added that he hates discussing the lawsuit but has no option but to cover as it is part of the sport.
Further talking about the point, Harvick pointed out that the teams have been part of all the dram and the controversies regarding the lawsuit the whole pre-season. He doesn’t expect this to change anytime soon.
Kevin Harvick is happy about SHR charter sale being confirmed
In the same podcast, Harvick shred his feelings about the uncertainty over SHR charter sale coming to an end. NASCAR refused to confirm the SHR charter purchase of both FRM and 23XI, before they were forced to do so by the court. The veteran is happy his former team was able to get away from the whole drama with out any losses.
The comments from Harvick are something many in the racing community align with, which is the lawsuit might get dragged out for a long-time and its final verdict is going to change the sport forever. It would be interesting see how the upcoming appeal hearing about the injunction in May will playout.
