NASCAR heads to Pennsylvania to race at Pocono Raceway this weekend. Fans have witnessed some exciting action in recent weeks including the Cup Series debut in Mexico, with Shane van Gisbergen taking the win. Now, NASCAR veteran Kevin Harvick has reckoned that it’s time for Kyle Larson to get back to Victory Lane.
Larson is not having the best of runs in the past couple of weeks. The HMS star has failed to match the high expectations laid on him by fans due to his incredible campaigns in recent years. Kyle Larson even crashed out of the Indy 500 during an ambitious double duty plan on Memorial Day. The No. 5 car is certainly in need to bounce back to the front this weekend.
Kevin Harvick asserted that Kyle Larson needed a complete reset in NASCAR. The 49-year-old picked the HMS star to win the race at Pocono, despite his struggles this year. Harvick asserted that things have not gone well for Larson this year, going as far as labeling his runs to be ‘mediocre’ in the past few weeks.
He hinted that this might be due to issues within the HMS garage as Larson and his crew worked tirelessly to return to winning ways.
I think it’s time for the No. 5 to reset. I’m going to go with Kyle Larson, I just think there’s been too many weeks of too many things being mediocre and things happening, the things that they’ve had going on.
Kevin Harvick said on Happy Hour podcast.
Kevin Harvick puts faith in Kyle Larson
Larson has won three Cup Series races this year so far. With his latest triumph coming in Kansas last month. Though, the past few rounds have been tough for the HMS star, who finished in 36th place in Mexico. While Kyle Larson sits in second place in the standings, he is facing pressure from the likes of Christopher Bell and Chase Elliot.

The Pocono track has not been the luckiest for the former Cup Series champion. In 2021, Kyle Larson was set to take his first win at the raceway, but a blown tire on the final turn snatched away this result.
Nevertheless, Kevin Harvick had confidence in Kyle Larson and Hendrick Motorsport. The 49-year-old insisted that things will go in Larson’s favor if the team can get the car right, and have a good qualifying. He asserted that the track had historically suited the team. Thus, making the former Cup Series champion the ideal pick to win the race.
I just think that, especially if those guys grit up and qualify good and get the car dialed in like it needs to be. It’s a good race track for them, so I’m going to go with Larson.
Kevin Harvick added.
Kyle Larson might have had a couple of poor races, but this does not mean that the 32-year-old is having a hard time in NASCAR. The HMS star just needs one race to click and get back to Victory Lane, potentially this time around in Pennsylvania. Fans would hope that Larson lives up to his infamous ‘greatest driver in the world’ tag on Sunday.
