The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has seen Hendrick Motorsports producing some solid runs, with their star driver Kyle Larson leading the charge with six race wins spread throughout the season. But now they find themselves in a tough situation, with one more race left in the Round of 8 and all three of their drivers not securing their finale spots.
Ex-Cup champion Kevin Harvick has assessed the HMS situation and asserted that more than one HMS driver will make it into the finale. He pointed out that the track and the championship situations are odds stacked up against them, and the drop in their consistency might hurt them as well.
While further talking about the situation, Harvick predicted that William Byron will most probably outrun Kyle Larson, considering their past. He insisted that though the past history doesn’t matter in the championship situation, Byron who is 7 points ahead of Larson has the best shot of making into the finale.
Kevin Harvick also gave concerning verdict about Denny Hamlin
While talking in the same podcast, Kevin Harvick pointed out that Denny Hamlin is currently in a tough spot seeing his 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick in the championship-4 while he is struggling. The No:45 driver won the race last Sunday with his impressive overtake on the last corner.
He pointed out that Denny Hamlin knows his 2024 championship chances are slipping away and he hasn’t gotten the opportunity celebrate his drivers win. Hamlin might be able to really celebrate 23XI’s success once he makes into the finale.
The JGR veteran does have the opportunity to make into the finale on points, but it’s a long shot and winning his way seems to be the best way in the championship chase for him. It will be interesting to see how the No:11 team will perform at Martinsville.
