The start of the 2025 NASCAR Cup season has been tough on Kyle Larson, as he failed to match the high level of expectation that was set for them. But he was able to finally end the disappointing streak at Homestead Miami last Sunday as he secured his maiden win of the season defeating his teammate, Alex Bowman.

Kyle Larson won the race, despite not having the fastest car, by taking advantage of his superior skills. This impressed 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick, who via his podcast Happy Hours highlighted that the win is dangerous for the rest of the field. He pointed how Larson won the race by balancing being aggressive and calculated despite pit-road issues.

This is a dangerous win for the rest of the field. I feel like he really balanced not having the best car, being aggressive two inches or on the wall all day, managed traffic, managed a pit road incident, damage to the car.

Kevin Harvick said on his Happy Hour podcast.

He pointed out that these types of days elevate the confidence of drivers as the likes of Kyle Larson. Harvick believes this will put the 2021 Cup champion and his Hendrick Motorsports crew in a position to win in the coming races even without having the fastest cars.

These are the types of days that could really put Kyle Larson in the thought process of being in a position to win on days when he doesn’t have the best car.

Further talking about the point, Kevin Harvick pointed out that Kyle Larson worked hard the whole race to ground out a win, as the likes of Ryan Blaney had the fastest car. The 2021 Cup Series champion also had luck on his side in the way to secure the race win.

He pointed out that 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick, who was one the strongest drivers last season, wasn’t good on the day unlike his teammate Bubba Wallace, who came close to winning the race. The No:45 Toyota found himself in a tough spot at the end as he wasn’t close enough win towards the last laps.

This was one of those days where he just grounded out and by the end of the race, had the 12 car [Blaney] — who I thought was the fastest car — out of the race. We had a couple other cars that didn’t really perform like we thought — [Tyler] Reddick being one of them — and he wound up in a position to where it was longest run at the end of the race.

The comments from the veteran shows, Kyle Larson has established himself as the front runner for the 2025 Cup championship in just one race proving the best only need a moment of spark to be competitive.  Going into Martinsville this week, where he has re-discovered his fine form in the Next-Gen era, he will be looking forward to keeping the streak alive.
