On Tuesday Stewart Haas Racing addressed the speculations over the team future, which has been a major discussion point from the start of the season. The Ford Mustang team announced that the team will cease all of its operations at the end of the 2024 season, leaving it’s driver and crew in a tough spot.
Now Kevin Harvick, who won the Cup title with back in 2014, has given his verdict on the decision by Tony Stewart and Gene Haas. The future Hall of Famer deems it as unbelievable to see his former team just folding up by the end if the season. He is finding it hard to even imagine how all of this going to playout.

It’s unbelievable to me, really, that we went from forever, to forward, to for sale in six months. And it’s just, I don’t even know how you could possibly imagine sitting here today and thinking six months later that Stewart-Haas is going to announce that they’re basically folding.Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour Podcast.
Harvick’s retirement that came in 2023 played a major role in the team coming to end. They lost the edge they have had on the track as well as in the sponsorship market. All of Harvick’s top sponsor left the team with him, putting a massive financial pressure on the team.

He came in with a lot of dreams, but the car not being up to the mark and now the decision to end the team’s operations has put him in a tough spot. He admitted it is a tough day for him, but promised race with his heart in the remaining races.

Today was a tough day for all of us. It is pretty hard to find the right words. I’m proud of our team for how they have been handling this and will going forward. RC is a true leader. We will keep racing our hearts out every Sunday.Josh Berry wrote on X.

Berry is one of the drivers that is hit the most with the decision to cease the operations. He might not get another shot at the Cup series like his young teammates Noah Gragson and Chase Briscoe. Berry might have to return to the Xfinity series in 2025.
