The start of the 2024 NASCAR Cup season was impressive for Denny Hamlin, who secured three wins and established himself as a championship contender. But as the season continued, his form and consistency dropped and now finds himself in a tough spot with one more race left for him secure a spot in the championship-4.

Ex-NASCAR Cup champion Kevin Harvick, who has been backing Denny Hamlin to win the Cup title, has given his verdict on the No:11 teams’ chances. He reckons Hamlin produced a good performance at Homestead and believes the JGR veteran can make into the next round on points. Harvick highlighted the TRD team has to qualify well to point their way in.

He has been good in this car too, at times. More than not, with this particular car. I think he can still point his way in. There’s going to be somebody that goes on points. So, I still think that he can point his way in, but I think it starts — you’re right, it does start in qualifying. … Qualifying will be important, because of that first stage and the points that go with everything.

Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.

While further talking about the race, Harvick pointed out that the No:11 team has the potential to either dominate the event or produce a mediocre run. Hence with a lot of variables and ton of drivers in the hunt, he is expecting an unexpected outcome.

But I think Denny Hamlin’s point situation, I think he could, I don’t really know. Think they could go there and dominate. I think they could go there and be mediocre. None of it would surprise me. If he went and laid an egg or if he went and dominated the race, neither one would surprise me at this particular point. So, I think it’s a virtual crapshoot as to who’s going to hit it.

Kevin Harvick hails Tyler Reddick’s grit and determination after Homestead win

One of the major reasons behind the unique situation was Tyler Reddick winning last week at Homestead. Kevin Harvick was impressed with how the No:45 TRD driver performed and secured the win with the last lap effort.

We had Tyler Reddick on the Victory Lap this week and I just — that grit and determination. He had the trouble with his pit crew early in the race — not really his pit crew, just getting out of the pit stall, and they kept getting beat off pit road.

Kevin Harvick said.

He pointed out that last corner move, taking advantage of the No:12 Ford of Ryan Blaney giving him more space, totally blew him away. Harvick seems really impressed with performance from the 23XI Racing driver.

Gave him a great speech of confidence, to say just shake it off, and then we get to this last sequence right here and he is up against the fence just ripping the fence, and Blaney just leaves two lanes open on the top, coming to the checkered flag, which just totally blew me away.

Kevin Harvick added.

Tyler Reddick will now be shifting his focus into the next-race and will be hoping to garner enough momentum that would yield him the championship in the finale. It will be interesting to see if he can pull of the biggest upset of the recent time.
