The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has seen defending Cup champion Ryan Blaney almost hitting the bottom in terms of performance before coming back to secure two wins and establish himself as one of the top championship contenders. Going into the two weeks Olympics break, he has shown all the signs of defending the title.
The start of the 2024 season has been slow but consistent for Ryan Blaney and the No:12 team. Despite the struggles of Ford teams, he remained the beacon of hope for them. But as the season progressed, he experienced a poor streak run, before coming back win at Iowa and Pocono. This was enough to convince ex-Cup champion Kevin Harvick that the No:12 team is on the title hunt.
He pointed out that at the start of the season most didn’t expect the No:12 team to be a strong championship contender and now with latest development to the cars they are headed in the right direction. Harvick reckons they are firing on all eight cylinders with the crew chief making great calls, mistake less pit-stops and great execution on the track.

Kevin Harvick co-hosts predict Ryan Blaney retaining the title
The co-host of Happy Hour podcast Mamba Smith, believes Ryan Blaney would become the first driver since Jimmie Johnson and the first in the Next-Gen era to retain the title in 2024. He has been backing the No:12 from the start of the season with their driver and crew in great form.
I said it earlier, I think it’s time to see a back-to-back champion, we haven’t seen one since Jimmie Johnson. Ryan Blaney, Team Penske, the 12 group, Jonathan Hassler, they are going to go back-to-back this year and make it three in a row for Team Penske as a whole.Mamba Smith said.
Kevin Harvick on the other hand still expect Denny Hamlin to secure his maiden championship in the 2024 season. It would be interesting to if one of the guy’s predictions would; come true or someone else would win the title.
