The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson raised some eyebrows last week over his bold statement about the Xfinity Series. He revealed that his goal behind racing in the second tier of stock car racing is to embarrass the young racers, shows them the quality gap between the two series’ and teach them the art of dominant racing.

Kyle Larson made the comments to 2014 Cup champion Kevin Harvick, in his Happy Hour podcast. The ex-SHR driver had the perfect reply to Larson claims and explained what the HMS veteran meant with the bold words. He asserted that racing the veterans will teach the youngsters about racing lanes on each track and where to get that extra performance boost.

They teach you where to run on the race track, they teach you that you can drive your car harder, they teach you that you can run down pit road faster, they teach you all the things that you need to be taught.

Kevin Harvick said via Happy Hour podcast.

He then highlighted that Kyle Larson’s agenda with Xfinity Series outing is to teach the young drivers the performance between the division and what they need to do in order to step up. Losing the races to the veterans is the cost these drivers have to pay for, in order to get these valuable lessons that will shape their career.

Cup is hard but the drivers are great and having those drivers in the Truck and Xfinity races, yeah, we get tired of seeing them win but it also teaches them how to do things the right way and apparently that’s on Kyle Larson’s agenda.

Kevin Harvick added.

Kyle Larson has revealed why it’s easy for him to lap the whole field

In the same conversation, Kyle Larson explained why his racing skills and years of experience gives him an advantage over the youngsters. The car also helps, as the Xfinity machinery helps to pass more unlike th3e Cup car which makes it tough to use the lanes to make easy passes.

The Cup race is just tough to lap people because the field is just that much tighter on speed, so it just takes longer. Xfinity, you can just work different lanes and get by people pretty easily.

Kyle Larson said.

Further talking about the point, Larson pointed out that if there weren’t stages in the races, he would have simply lapped the whole field in the Xfinity series with the car he has. But the same isn’t possible in the Cup series as it takes more than 10 laps to lap the drivers racing at P26.

I feel like if there weren’t stages, I would be able to lap the whole field there because of how much easier it is to pass. In Cup, I might catch 26th place or something, and it might take me 10 or 12 laps to get by them or more.

Kyle Larson added.

The comments from Kyle Larson shows his Xfinity appearances is going to benefit the young racers in the long run, though they might dislike him for stealing their thunder at the moment. The veteran has more to offer for the youngster and it will be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for him.
