The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has seen a lot of changes in the Cup garage, but nothing come close to Stewart Haas Racing ceasing their operations forever. The championship winning team has been shut down, with their three charters being set to be sold. They will still remain in the sport, as Haas Factory Team, without the involvement of Tony Stewart.
Kevin Harvick, the 2014 Cup champion with SHR, has given his verdict on the final day of the team at the Phoenix finale via his podcast. He asserted that the parting co-owner Tony Stewart’s speech and Riley Herbest victory, made the race special. Harvick is looking forward to seeing how good the new team can perform from the 2025 season.
While further talking about the topic, Harvick highlighted the impressive environment SHR had in the past and how it helped him to win the championship. He is thankful that the team helped him to work with some of the greatest talents of the sport and is finding it hard to believe the team is no more.
Kevin Harvick explains the tough situation of SHR employees
One of the primary focuses of SHR this season has been relocating its crew members and helping them to land new roles. He pointed out that those employees will be having a tough time, as they have been asked to move from the team, they have been part of for years and some finds it hard to realize it’s all gone.
Just like the crew members, Kevin Harvick seems also emotional about SHR ceasing its operations. But the team has a new chapter ahead, under Gene Haas’ ownership and the NASCAR fans might see a resurgence of them with Cole Custer behind the wheel.
