The NASCAR Chicago Race weekend penalty report was big blow for 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace. He was fined a whopping $50,000 by the sanctioning body for door slamming last week’s race winner Alex Bowman as a response to an early race incident involving the two. Though the hit wasn’t hard, it coming during the cool-down lap with the No:48 cars’ window net down was a serious issue.
Ahead of this weekend’s race at Pocono Raceway, Bubba Wallace addressed the media over the fine and during the discussion he discussed about meeting Kevin Harvick soon after the fine announcement. They were at a Legend car race with the ex-SHR driver accompanying his son Keelan Harvick.

I will say I got my media training from Kevin Harvick. So, at the racetrack, we were at the Shootout race, Legend Cars racing with him and Keelan. He’s like, ‘You ready to roll? Ready to go qualify?’ I said, ‘Nope not really, just got fined.’ He’s like, ‘Man, that sucks.’Bubba Wallace told Fox Sports.
Kevin Harvick told Wallace to show up at Pocono with a smile on his face accepting the judgement. The future Hall of Famer also gave Wallace some powerful advice and asked him to remain the fun-loving guy he is throughout the week.
He told me to show up with a smile on my face and accept it. So, here’s my smile. Might not agree with the penalty but I’m smiling about it. He also told me a lot of powerful things. Just show up and be the fun-loving guy that I am throughout the week.Bubba Wallace added.
Bubba Wallce reveals what Alex Bowman texted his during rain delay at Chicago
The crash between Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman occurred before the rain delay at Chicago. During this break the Chevy driver texted the No:23 driver and apologized to him. He texted back after the race by taking a sarcastic dig.
[Alex Bowman] texted me, ‘Hey man, sorry, immediately locked up.’ He didn’t mention anything about switches until he got on TV. He’s like, ‘If there’s any consolation, my s**t’s destroyed too.’ And I texted him after the race, ‘Yeah, real destroyed, nice job on the win.’ So, we’re good.Bubba Wallace said.
Bowman and Wallace seem to have sorted out the issues between them. They are ready to move on from the drama and learn from it. It would be interesting to see how the reminder of the season would playout for Wallace after the fine.
