2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick shared his thoughts on the latest announcement in during his CARS Tours race appearance alongside his son Keelan Harvick. He highlighted how the old is new again and recalled how just like the premier division, the grassroot racing has also scrapped the controversial championship formats.
What’s old is new again… The Cup series in NASCAR is what the parade. When they go to playoffs formats and change things, or restarts, or whatever it is, they are the leader of the racing industry.
Kevin Harvick said via the Short Track Scene.
The ex-Stewart Haas Racing driver pointed out that NASCAR as the industry leader set the tone for the whole short track racing scene in the USA and he expects this change to make an impact on all grassroots events. He gave the changes in Dirt Late Model Racing, Lucas Oil and Late Models series as example for his claim.
That kind of sets a tone for the short tracks. I think you’ll probably see some of that back up. We saw that in Dirt Late Model Racing, Lucas Oil, Late Models, are back up on their championship formats.
Kevin Harvick added.
Further taking about the point, he highlighted that the format change is what exactly the whole arcing community wanted as the old format ruined the putty of racing. Bigger sample size makes championship legitimate again. The racer wants all the races that have been part in the season matters towards the championship and the new format guarantees it.
The racers, they like the purity of what we do. And having every week matter, you can’t be out here… They run 40-45 dirt races this year. And a lot of these guys will chase championships, and they want every week to matter.
Kevin Harvick asserted.

We just want good events for the racers. It’s not always about the Cars Tour. It’s about trying to create great events for the racers, so it’s fun to see it all come together.
