The 2024 NASCAR Cup season saw Joey Logano winning his third championship in an impressive fashion, peaking at the right time during the post-season. But his poor performance in the regular season raised some eyebrows with many in community that believes the consistent performance isn’t rewarded by the current format.
2014 NASCAR Cup series champion Kevin Harvick has shared his proposal to make the post-season better. He wants the regular season champion to get a bye in the post-season instead of the 15 bonus points, till the round of 8. The ex-SHR driver feels the regular season champion can be even put in the final four but doesn’t think it’s right.

The champion driver also suggested byes to be given to the drivers who finishes P2 and P3 in the championship tables. He pointed out that the P2 driver should get direct entry into the R-12 and the P3 driver to get direct entry to R-18. Harvick sees this as an important change to make sure non-playoff races counts in the Chase.
Kevin Harvick wants changes to the season finale venue
In the same podcast, the ex-SHR driver also shared some changes that needs to be made to the season finale venue. He pointed out that the final race should be rotated between Homestead, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. This would help to negate the advantage some teams have at the finale venue, Phoenix.
The comments from Kevin Harvick are something that needs to be looked into and many drivers would agree with the suggestions. It would be interesting to see if NASCAR will try to implement the suggestions made by the future Hall of Famer.
