The 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick has been enjoying his time away from active stock car racing, after retiring from full-time racing in 2023. One of the major goals behind the veteran stepping away from racing was molding his son Keelan Harvick to become a professional racer car driver.
Keelan took one of the most important steps in his career recently, as he made Limited Late-Model racing debut at South Carolina’s Florence Motor Speedway. He was impressive in the event, as secured a P8 finish in a clean race, overcoming the challenge posed by the veteran racers. Kevin Harvick was a proud dad after the race and recently shared his feelings about his son racing prowess.
He believes that one of the biggest problem his son had was having him always giving him advice, which sometimes held him back. The ex-Stewart Haas Racing driver admitted that he should have let his son be freer and later asserted that he was proud how his son approached everything on the track as well as off of it.
Keelan Harvick shared his feelings about late-model debut
While talking about his performance recently, Keelan pointed out that he has learned a lot from the late-model debut. He understood tier saving and being more aggressive late in the race, with the whole KHI garage to credit for giving him a capable car.
The comments from Keelan shows a level of confidence he has gained over the last few years, racing in multiple junior events with Kevin Harvick as his mentor. It would be interesting to see how the 2025 season is going to playout for the youngster.
