To the shock of many in the NASCAR community Tony Stewart and Gene Haas via a statement announced that they are ceasing their operations in 2024. The team’s decision has put the life of over 300 employees associated with the sport in a limbo as the drivers and crew members have very limited time to land opportunities for the future.
DeLana Harvick, the wife of Kevin Harvick who won the 2014 NASCAR Cup championship with SHR and a close friend of Tony Stewart, found it shocking to see the announcement. She has been part of the team from 2014 to 2023, when Harvick announced his retirement from the sport and became a broadcaster with Fox Sports.
It has been a second family for the Harvick’s and the No:4 crew especially holds a special place in her heart. While responding to the news via X, she shared her concerns about the SHR crew that are going to unemployed and also send positive energy for the last chapter of the team, with half of the season still left.
I’ve heard the rumblings just like everybody else, but to see it in writing is still hard to believe…. Pops and I were so fortunate to be surrounded by a great group of people for the last chapter in his career. SHR was like a second family, especially the 4 team, and my heart hurts for all the wonderful men and women wondering what’s next. Kevin Harvick expects a war for top SHR talents
With all four of the SHR Cup teams ending their operations, all the top engineers and crew chief are available on the market. So, Kevin Harvick expects the top teams to go on battle to sign the best available from the 300 employees on the market.
It’s going to be a war for the people, the good people. It’s going to be a war between all the top teams in a contest to see who can get the best people that are within SHR. There are a lot of good people within SHR and people are hard to come by.Kevin Harvick said.
There will be a lot of demand in the market for the SHR charters as well and the teams that are buying the charters would also be looking to land the top-guys from SHR. The 2024-25 NASCAR Silly season will become much crazier following this call as the season progresses.
