The NASCAR Cup garage is at the Charlotte Roval for the Round of 12 Cutoff race and the drivers are in for a massive challenge. Roval was re-configured by SMI with the hopes of making racing more interesting. The changes to turn 6-7 and the addition of the new turtle curbing has put many drivers in a tough spot.

2017 Cup champion Martin Truex Jr. was really critical of the change and pointed out that he feels like having “concussion every lap” because of it.  Two times champion Kyle Busch agrees wholeheartedly with his former Joe Gibbs Racing teammate. He admitted to having headaches because of the changes while asserting Truex Jr. was 1000% correct

It’s not overblowing it. It’s 1000% correct. I don’t know when I’ll see the data, probably not until Monday but it fuc… my head hurts.

Kyle Busch told Bob Pockrass.

While further talking about the point, Kyle Busch pointed out that the hits from the curbs at Roval was harder than Watkins Glen, another track where drivers faced similar issues. He explained that at Glen drivers experience the hist much often, but it’s mild, compared to what they experienced at Roval.

Not similar to the Glen as far as the, the kind of way you’re hitting. Yeah, I actually here, I think it, it’s a sharper, faster hit. Um, but it’s one versus the bus stop, the old bus stop at Watkins Glen. It would be three of them going through there. You know what I mean? It’s more mild here. More violent here, but more often or more back to back at the Glen.

Kyle Busch added.

Kyle Busch is confused why NASCAR decided to make such changes

While further talking about the point, the veteran admitted that he doesn’t understand why NASCAR thought it is needed to make the change at the frontstretch. Making it narrower and slower will only make it more chaotic, and there is no upside to it.

They do make changes, um, but the front stretch, she can’t, I don’t know why we changed the front stretch. The front stretch was fine, uh, to make it tighter. I don’t understand the reasoning behind making it tighter, um, just to make us slower through there so we don’t get into turn one as fast. I don’t really know.

The comments from Kyle Busch suggest that the driver is having a tough time so far at the track and expects to have more tough times in the race. It will be interesting to see how the RCR veteran will perform in the coming races.
