Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch came into the NASCAR Cup weekend at Daytona with the hopes of ending his winless streak and secure maiden win of 2024. But the Coke Zero Sugar 400 had other plans for him as he lost the race from lead on the final restart to Wood Brothers Racing’s Harrison Burton.

Kyle Busch was on the lead on the restart and if not for Christopher Bell not giving him the right push, the win would have been his. While talking about the same after the race he admitted that the bottom lane getting misconjobulated and burton getting a great push at the end ruined the race win dream for him on Saturday.

Yeah, no, I haven't seen any of it, but just from what I recall, we got off a two and somehow the bottom lane got misconjobulated and broke all of our momentum and the top lane just rolled.
Kyle Busch said at Daytona.

He further admitted that the only for him to win the race was flat at wreck young Kyle Busch, which would have the exact opposite to the respectful racing he has been preaching in the Next-Gen era. So, he made the right call and dis everything he can to win the race clean, but unfortunately things just didn’t playout right.

And so once they got in front, with as little as energy as there was, with the lack of cars that there were, it was hard to make anything happen from turn four to start finish. So besides just flat out wrecking them, um, you know, there was nothing else I could do.

Kyle Busch reckons he can win Southern 500 and make into the last-16

Now the only way for Kyle Busch to make it into the last-16 is to win the upcoming Southern 500 at Martinsville, the regular season finale. With the newfound confidence in RCR from the last two weeks and his impressive performance in the past at the track, gives him some hopes about thriving on next-Sunday.

I mean, we want to, we, uh, we ran good there. Uh, the first time I ran with these guys, um, early last year, you know, but, uh, early this year we, we struggled mightily. So, uh, we'll just have to go with hopefully a really good package that works and get our job done.
Kyle Busch said.

The RCR crew will do everything they could this weekend to make sure they have a shot at winning in the finale as missing out on a the last-16 will impact them both emotionally as well as financially. It would be interesting to see how the No:8 team would perform on next-week.
