The 2025 NASCAR Cup Season so far hasn’t been kind to Kyle Busch, as his two-year winless streak has continued to haunt him. He was expecting a strong performance at Kansas, this Sunday, but got caught up in a wreck involving Josh Berry and Noah Gragson in a four wide battle, causing some damages to his car and killing his momentum.

It was a big wreck, that gave Kyle Busch flashback to his wreck in the 2015 Daytona 500. While racing for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Xfinity Series race, he slammed hard into the concrete wall and broke his right leg, ruling him out for multiple races. But he came back strong after recovery and won his maiden title that year. But he still has PTSD of the incident and felt that pressure at Kansas.

I had PTSD of the Daytona crash. I was headed into the inside wall and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this again? Like, please rudder.’

Kyle Busch said via Actions Detrimental.

He explained what went wrong and what he did to minimize the impact, last Sunday to Denny Hamlin on the Actions Detrimental podcast. Busch downshifted and was trying to get the motor turn back on, but he it got stalled on the track. Though he was able to get back on track, the best he could do was a P21 finish.

I downshifted into second gear, and the car’s going so slow it just putts in along and then rams over the grass because I was trying to get the motor to turn back over by itself, and it just stalled right on the grass.

Kyle Busch shares his feelings about 69-race winless streak

For a driver that is known as a serial winner with over 230 wins combined from all three national series, and won three championships, the long winless streak in the top-tier of the sport, is really frustrating. In a recent interview with Fox Sport, he shared his true feelings about the disappointing run.

He admitted that racers like him live to enjoy life in the victory lane, but when they get caught in massive wrecks it hurt. The veteran doesn’t understand what he is doing wrong at the moment, as he is trying as much, he was in his prime years, but the results are quite the opposite. The more Busch and team are trying, the more they are getting caught in wild incidents.

You live for those moments of being able to go get it and get a win and boom, we’re in the wall [and] we’re crashed. I don’t know why or what, but I’ve been rewarded 230-plus times for being able to go get it and go get the win when it comes down to it. And now it seems like I get penalized for trying.

Kyle Busch said.

One of the main reasons Kyle Busch hasn’t been able to win races is Richard Childress Racing failing to out develop their rival teams since the second half of the 2023 season. The driver and the team have also failed to execute their race in the weekend with mistakes in the pit-road as well as on the track.
