Kyle Busch confesses he was “sort of the CATALYST” for the charter wars
Richard Childress Racing veteran Kyle Busch explained how his Joe Gibbs Racing exit was one big factor in the charter wars.

The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been marked with the charter wars, as teams and the sanctioning body went head-to-head over 2025-2031 deal. Things took a turn for the worst, when 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports who were the teams not signed the charter deals, decided to sue the series owners alleging monopoly.
The main reason behind the issues was the sponsorship issues in the sport, and Kyle Busch’s exit from Joe Gibbs Racing in 2022 revealed how fragile the situation is with sponsors. When the No:18 team lost the lucrative M&M deal and failed to find the right replacement, he decided to move to RCR. So, Busch see this incident as the catalyst for charter wars.
In the same interview, Kyle Busch also talked about the health of the sport at the moment and pointed out that it can be much better spot compared to other sport. He also highlighted the family business dynamic in NASCAR and the infighting happening around revenue sharing as well.

The 2024 NASCAR Cup season has been really tough for Kyle Busch, with the car under performing and him making mistakes, costing them wins. So, he is now looking forward to have redeeming season in 2025 and get better on the track.
The RCR veteran seems determined to get out of the poor streak and perform well in the 2025 season. It will be interesting see if Kyle Busch will be able to do so, which will be tough as the team has a lot of work to do.
