One of the most aggressive incidents of last weekend chaotic and entertaining Chicago Street race was the Bubba Wallace versus Alex Bowman duel. This has caught the attention of many in the racing community, including the likes of two times Cup Series champion Kyle Busch. The veteran assessed the dynamic between the two amidst the beef.

Earlier in the race Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman had an intense duel, started by the former and ended when Hendrick Motorsports driver spun the No:23 Toyota out, ruining his race. After the race the duo had brief encounter where they seem to have squashed the beef. The duo being in the same bracket for the $1 million in-season tournament played a significant role in it.

On his appearance on the SiriusXM NASCAR Radio show, Kyle Busch shared his thoughts on the duel and detailed how Bubba Wallace started it all. The 23XI Racing driver was hanging on to his life and trying to stop the No:48 Chevy from overtaking him. But he also admitted that there wasn’t the drama many expected between the two after the race.

But it looked afterwards like it was no hard feelings because Bubba basically said that, right? Like, ‘Hey, I was running you rough, I was running you hard, I was trying to block you, I was hanging on for dear life.’ So, there wasn’t as much drama afterwards as much as people would have thought…

Kyle Busch said via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

The veteran pointed out that there was no beef between the two because the Toyota driver admitted that it was his fault when they were talking and that admission was enough for Alex Bowman to move on from whatever issue they had at the moment. But still Busch believes there is a beef between them the duo doesn’t like each other much, though many think otherwise, owing to fact that they have had multiple run-ins already in 2025.

Because, you know, I think Bubba conceded to the fact that like he was doing all that he could to try to prohibit the 48 from passing him. So, not as much drama afterwards as many of us thought was going to happen there. I don’t think those two really like each other all that well. There’s been a few times over the years they’ve run over one another.

Kyle Busch reminds Bubba Wallace and Alex Bowman about grand scheme of things

In the same conversation earlier Kyle Busch pointed out that the Wallace-Bowman duo forgot the most important thing of the race during the battle. The most experienced full-time racer in the current garage reminded the duo that the grand scheme of things in a race is finishing the race in a solid point paying position.

I’m one of those guys where I’m like, you gotta finish, too, right? Like, there’s a race within a race but you’ve gotta focus on the bigger grand scheme of things which is going out there and finishing the race…

Kyle Busch said.

When the duo got engaged in the wild duel, they forgot this factor as well as they fact that both pf the drivers have been winless in the 2025 season and is looking to make it into the playoffs on points. Both of the racers, especially Wallace will be feeling bad the incident cost them better finishes.

…And score as many points as you can for the, if you’re not going to win, he wants to point his way into the playoffs, obviously. So, that was definitely a hit in their book of not being able to get a good finish as much as they wanted.

Kyle Busch added.

The comments from Kyle Busch shows the NASCAR community as whole wasn’t impressed with the duo as they were expecting a string battle between the two experienced campaigners of the sport. It would be interesting to see how they duo going approach dules among them in the remaining races of the season.
