Hall of Fame team owner Richard Childress found himself in hot water after the Dover International Speedway Cup race, after he publicly threw his engineers under the bus with car criticism via team radio of both Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon. Not everyone in the racing community appreciated the gesture from the season ed veteran and called him out on it.

Now ahead of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Cup race, Kyle Busch has addressed the situation, then shared his thoughts on the potential talks that has happened between his boss Richard Childress and the engineering crew. He pointed out that though there were multiple meetings, he didn’t attend many as he was traveling the whole weekend, while teams’ senior officials worked on solutions.

I can only speculate, but I’m sure there were plenty of meetings this week… I’m not there every day and I was actually traveling every day this week, so I didn’t have a whole lot of time to be at the race shop with anybody.

Kyle Busch said via Frontstrech.

He then addressed the criticism and pointed out that he understands his boss’ frustration as there are a ton of issues for the team has to solve at the moment, some of which are beyond the teams control. Busch then refused share any further take on the situation, as it isn’t a conversation he can in the public.

It’s not one thing. There is a plethora of issues. And it’s not just RCR issues either. (We’ve) got to figure it out… This isn’t a positive conversation for me. So I can’t really give a great answer that won’t get me in trouble.

Kyle Busch added.

During the same conversation, Busch did point out that Childress and the team president Mike Verlander surely had multiple conversation with the crew to devise a plan for recovery. The two times champion, just as everyone else on the grid is looking forward to seeing how this change is going to affect the team in the remaining races of 2025.

In a separate conversation, Kyle Busch who is in the final chapters of his racing career shared his thoughts about the peak of a driver in the sport. Unlike other sports where athletes’ peaks between 25 and 35, in the stock car racing the considered peak period is 35 to 45. The two times champion is in the time period closing on his 40th birthday.

Talking about the peak age bracket, Busch pointed out that he believes the peak is earlier than that and admitted that his talents peaked earlier in his career. But his growth mentally as a racer happened late in his career, so he has had experienced peak in both of the age brackets.

I would say that the peak can be earlier. I would say that my talent peak was probably early, but my mentality peak was not, being able to handle situations, tough situations, game seven moment situations, that sort of stuff.

The truth of the matter is experience with more racing, gives driver an advantage, especially in NASCAR where the margin for error is really low.  At the moment Kyle Busch is showing signs of not being at his peak in terms of performance, with his team underperforming as well and that needs to improved for veteran to have a long, productive career with RCR before retirement.
