The NASCAR Cup Series race at Gateway had some dramatic moments in offer for the fans. While Ryan Blaney running out of fuel on the final lead lap was the highlight of the day, the clash between former Cup Series champions Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson took the center stage as well. The incident ruined the race for the RCR driver.

Two times Cup champion Kyle Busch found himself in a dual with HMS’ Kyle Larson in the last laps of the second stage of Enjoy Illinois 300. The No:5 Chevy of Larson while making a move to overtake the No:8 RCR Chevy, made contact with the latter and it resulted in both spinning out and hitting hard on the wall.

Busch’s car had significant damage and was forced to DNF. Larson on the other hand was able to bounce back and secure p10. During his post-wreck interview with Fox, Busch sarcastically blamed Larson for wrecking him and admitted that his crew can’t afford to have underwhelming days like this considering their cars’ performance.

I’m sure it’s my fault. Hate it for my guys, everybody on the Rebel Camaro. We can’t afford days like this. So, hate it for them and trying to race for a playoff spot and gradually falling [in the standings] there a bit and just – yeah he got loose and wiped us out.

Kyle Busch told Fox Sports.

Yeah we were coming to the end of that stage and I was a little bit better than him and left four to side-draft him and barely touched his quarter panel and I don’t know, I guess it ticked him off and he squeezed into me. I honestly thought I had a flat when I turned into one because it just turned around backwards, but I guess he must have just took the air off of me and [I] spun.

Kyle Larson said.

Kyle Busch has to really frustrated with himself on how the last couple of race has -played out for him, as he was slowly getting his team out of the underwhelming start, they have had. He will be hoping to bounce back from the disappointments soon.
