In Short
  • Kyle Busch is on a winless streak, last winning a NASCAR race in June 2023.
  • Denny Hamlin recently achieved his 61st career win, closing in on Busch's record of 63 wins.
  • Busch acknowledges his struggles and accepts that Hamlin deserves success as a talented driver.

Kyle Busch is currently suffering from a massive winless streak in his NASCAR career. Busch is one of the very few drivers who have achieved more than 60 race wins in NASCAR. Denny Hamlin recently joined the list following his victory in Las Vegas. Now, the RCR star opens up on Hamlin potentially surpassing him in the number of career race wins.

In recent years, Kyle Busch has been unable to enter the victory lane in the Cup Series. The 40-year-old last won a race at the World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway) in June 2023. Since then, Busch has run well over 90 races and not won any of them. Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin is in a league of his own and winning an average of four to five races a year.

Denny Hamlin recently achieved his 61st career win, just two shy of matching Kyle Busch’s record. If Hamlin continues racing for a couple more seasons, he will easily surpass Busch in terms of race wins. Now, the RCR star accepts that as a driver, he wants to keep adding race wins in his career. The 40-year-old claimed that he hoped to be in the range of 70-75 race wins by now, but was unable to do so.

No. I mean, as a driver, you want to continue to add to your total and just keep rising and rising and rising, right? And I don’t feel like I’ve been able to rise as high as I wanted to. I was hoping to get into the 70, 75 range, and that was sort of my goal that I had set, and we’ve stalled out at 63.

Kyle Busch told Dalton Hopkins.

Ultimately, Kyle Busch accepted that it was his problem that he was unable to win more races than 63, and not Denny Hamlin‘s. Busch continued that Hamlin is a great driver who deserves to achieve great results, as he works hard as well. As such, when the JGR veteran reaches 63 race wins, he will take the spot away from the 40-year-old.

So that’s my own problem, not that Denny shouldn’t be successful in overachieving. He’s obviously a great race car driver and has many opportunities to be able to get to where he’s at. So when he does get there, then he takes that spot.

Kyle Busch added.

Kyle Busch wins Legends Masters Division despite NASCAR winless streak

Though Kyle Busch’s NASCAR performances aren’t going great, he has continued to participate in various other competitions. The RCR star often races in junior leagues alongside his son, Brexton Busch, who is on the pathway to replicate his father’s success in motorsports. As such, Busch Sr. achieved victory in the Legends Masters Division ahead of the Goodyear 400 at Darlington.

Kyle Busch paid a visit to the victory lane at Dillon Motor Speedway on Saturday night. He ran the race alongside his son, Brexton Busch, as the father-son duo raced one another in the Legends cars. Busch picked up the race win in the 25-lap feature race and led the session from the beginning to the very end. As such, the RCR star was delighted to have achieved the victory, especially in front of his son, Brexton, who certainly has some difficult shoes to fill in.

It was just all good, Thank you to everyone for coming out and supporting your local short track. Thanks for being here at Dillon Motor Speedway. It was a lot of fun, good characteristics. Tried to get some laps around here to help the little one out, but having some fun with our Lucas Oil race car while doing so.

Kyle Busch said, as reported by racingamerica.com.

Now, a victory in NASCAR is the next goal for Kyle Busch. Denny Hamlin is definitely not going to stop at 61 race wins and keep going for more. Realistically, Hamlin believes that he can reach the 67 race win mark if he continues for a couple more years in the sport. Ultimately, time will tell about how the 45-year-old fares against Busch’s record in the sport.
