This mid-week was special for two times Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, after a disappointing race at Homestead Miami. He raced against his son Brexton Busch for the first time a professional event, at Millbridge Speedway in an A-level Micro race event. The Cup champion was the better of the two, in the 20-lap event as he finished P3 while his nine-year old son finished P6.
One driver that has the opportunity to pull of something similar is Hendrick Motorsports’ 2021 Cup Series champion Kyle Larson. His 10-year-old son, Owen Larson is active in the Junior racing scene and the No:5 Chevy driver has previously revealed that he might race the youngster once in the 2025 season.
Yeah, I’m sure it’ll happen eventually. But it’s not really on the radar yet. I’m sure it could happen next year or something.
Kyle Larson told Fronstretch.com.
But it not easy to race Owen for Larson, like the Busch’s. Since he doesn’t race as much as Kyle Busch, and most of his races are in the big dirt cars. He pointed out that the race will probably happen in the Micro or potentially in a sprint car event.
I don’t race Micros a lot as Kyle (Busch) does. More of the stuff I run is in the bigger cars. Yeah, I think it’ll probably happen in a Micro, but I’m not racing those every week like he (Busch) is, so it would happen more often as Owen got in sprint cars or something like that.

Kyle Larson shares his strange relationship with Martinsville
The Chevy driver is at Martinsville this weekend with the hopes of continuing his strong run at the track. It has been one of the best tracks for the driver since he joined HMS, with the 2023 race win being the highlight there.

Talking about the coming weekend, his performance there over the years, Larson admitted that it is statistically his crew’s best track. He highlighted how he has multiple P2’s and podium finish alongside the win at the historic venue.
It’s probably our best track. Honestly, I mean, we’ve won, we’ve finished second multiple times, and we finished third during the fall. Like it’s surprisingly, it’s probably statistically our best track.
Kyle Larson said.
Despite these positive, when the race starts some negativity creeps in for Larson. He admitted that he doesn’t have much confidence about his chances racing there as he finds it difficult to always be on his game at Martinsville. He is hopeful about having another solid run, despite this issue, as his team always step up for him with the cars on Sunday.
So, it feels like my worst track. When I go there, I just go lost… I don’t have much confidence in the same as how I go here, because it is such a difficult track, but Hendrick Motorsports has a great package for it. I think suits my style, okay enough to finish well, so, I get more excited to go there every time, and hopefully can have another good run.
Kyle Larson added.
The admission from Kyle Larson shows how having the right team besides you helps drivers to triumph on the track. It would be interesting to see how the race is going to playout for the No:5 team with the momentum of last week’s win on their side.
