Hendrick Motorsports’ star driver Kyle Larson came into the race at Nashville with the hopes securing his fourth win of the season. But he was in for a disappointment after getting in multiple incidents in the final half of the race that saw a record five-over-time restarts. His day ended in a P8, which is disappointing considering his own standards.

While talking about how the race ended, the multiple cautions and overall chaos, Kyle Larson admitted that it was absolute craziness. He pointed out that due to multiple cars getting short on fuel, including the HMS No:5 Chevy Camaro ZL1 because of the overtime made it a big mess.

Just a lot of craziness there at the end. There were a lot of cars short on fuel and we were one of them. Just a lot of mess.

The 2021 Cup champion was the reason for two cautions during the overtime. The first one came in the first re-start, when he made contact with Ross Chastain and caused his wreck. The second one was when he couldn’t get the right start and collected Kyle Busch who was running P4 behind him, ruining his race.

Further talking about the point, Larson explained his he cased Chastain’s crash by getting in the really tight situation and later how he caused another crash by running out of fuel. He pointed out that he was able to get the happy result with the help of good restart at the end.

I just tried to run in with him and got myself really tight and into Ross (Chastain), so caused that crash. And then on the next restart, I just got out of shape and almost caused a crash there. On the third one, we ran out of fuel taking off. We just had a couple of good restarts right there at the end. Happy to get a top 10, but a little bit bummed how it transpired.

The HMS driver will be looking forward to bounce back in the coming week after the disappointments he overcame on Sunday. He would be hoping to get at least one more win before the playoffs starts in seven race weeks to be in a great place to win the championship.
