In 2020 Kyle Larson’s NASCAR career was almost over as a racially insensitive comment made during iRacing live stream got him a one-year suspension and cost him his seat at CGR. But Hendrick Motorsports’ Rick Hendrick gave him an opportunity bounce back, signing him to drive the No:5 Chevy. He rewarded the HOF with two championships and 32 wins in five years.
Kyle Larson and Rick Hendrick have also developed a strong relationship among them over the years, that has made the latter invest more into the HMS racers ventures such as the Indy 500-Coke 600 double. In his recent appearance on The Driver Project, the Chevy driver revealed his boss’ TikTok addiction.
The reigning Cup champion pointed out that being his boss Hendrick is always concerned about his sprint car ventures, owing to the potential for injuries. That’s why he sends him TikTok’s of his crashes, which is hilariously the only time he texts him.
Rick has this thing. So, he’s on TikTok all the time. He’ll send me random — the only time he texts me is he’ll send me TikToks of me crashing sprint cars.

These videos his old crashes as well as crashes of other drivers, asking if he is okay, more like a caring grandfather. He replies to his boss reminding him all these are old videos. The comment seems to show the HMS legend as a grandpa who learned about how TikTok work and now can’t stop himself from using it.
All these TikToks of people crashing, me crashing. … But yeah, so he loves to send TikToks of me crashing from like years before and he’s like, ‘Are you OK?’ I’m like, ‘Rick, that was from like six years ago.’

Kyle Larson explained how he remains motivated through struggle
The 2025 Cup series season was special for Kyle Larson, as he survived a massive mid-season slump around the time of the double and won the championship disappointing Denny Hamlin. But he was able to get over this struggling period owing to the support he got from everyone at HMS.

Even through all the bad weeks that we were having and lack of speed, I was confident because racing for Hendrick Motorsports was like, ‘Okay, I mean this isn’t going to last long, like we’re gonna next week we’re going to get them.’
Kyle Larson said.
The solid cars he got consistently, as well as his HMS teammates performing strong enough, helped him to remain motivated. His crew chief Cliff Daniels also played a significant role, helping him remain in the elite level, where he belongs.
I think we’re probably even more motivated than ever through those struggles…kept us on the right path and kept us zoned in on what we needed to do and keep working.
Kyle Larson added.
The comments from the veteran racer shows how much Rick Hendrick and his employees invest into their drivers, helping them to become the most dominant team in the history of the sport. It would be interesting to see how many more races as well as titles Kyle Larson is going to deliver to HMS in the coming years.
