Hendrick Motorsports veteran Kyle Larson is going into the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series finale at Phoenix, looking to win his second championship. He is in solid form and is among the favorite in what is going to be the most competitive final in the Next-Gen era, as the Team Penske drivers are no longer in the chase.

One of the question the veteran racer was asked during his media session ahead of the championship-4 race was about his retirement. Kyle Larson is 33 years old right now and according to him he realistically has seven more years left him to race in the top division. He isn’t planning to race beyond his 40s like Kyle Busch or Denny Hamlin.

Yeah. That’s definitely a tough question to ask because I think that thought and idea probably changes every year, or probably even less than every year. Every time I might think about it in my head, it might change. But, I think for me, I’m 33 right now. I think it’s realistic to see me race in Cup until I’m 40.

Kyle Larson said via The Podium Finish’s “Hot Seat” to talk with Rob Tiongson.

His retirement plans will be based on his children and how the grow up. In the next-seven years his eldest son will be an adult and his other two children will be almost teenagers. His entire life would be different at the moment and it might inspire him to either continue racing or retire for good to explore other potential ventures.

That’s almost seven years from now. Owen will be going close to 18 years old by that point. And uh yeah, Audrey would be about 14 and Cooper would be, you know, about 10, which would be Owen’s age right now. So, life will look a lot different at that point. It probably comes down to really what they’re into and all that. But I really enjoy what I’m doing right now and I just don’t know if that changes when I’m 40.

Kevin Harvick declares championship experience won’t matter for Kyle Larson at Phoenix

In the latest episode of the Happy Hour podcast, Kevin Harvick shared his thoughts on the supposed advantage Kyle Larson has compared to rest of the championship-4 as he is the only champion among them. He pointed out that the week is going to be challenging and annoying for everyone, so, he will not have any advantage.

I don’t think so. There’s a lot to navigate as far as the week and the weekend and things that are going to be annoying. You’re going to have more people around you. …You got to have a plan if you’re going to do it well. If you just go in there and wing it, I don’t think you’re going to get the most out of it. I think you got to have a structured plan.

Kevin Harvick said.

Furthermore, he pointed out that since HMS has two drivers in the final four race, the resources will be spilt and it will also affect the race. But at the end of the day, the one thing that is going to make the weekend tough for the racer is the fact that they won’t be able to follow their normal routine.

When you look a the Hendrick organization, I think that they’re going to keep [William] Byron in line and help him manage his time because that’s what they do as a company anyway. I think the pressure of the weekend is high. But I think the biggest thing in navigating the weekend is all the things that are not in your normal routine.

Kevin Harvick added.

The ex-SHR driver has some solid points regarding the dynamic that is ahead of the Cup drivers on Sunday. Kyle Larson is going to face a tough battle, and it would be interesting to if he can beat his teammate Byron as well as the Joe Gibbs Racing duo of Denny Hamlin and Chase Briscoe for the championship.
