The 2024 NASCAR Cup season marked the return of the Brickyard 400 as the fans has been demanding it for a long-time, replacing the road course race. 2021 champion Kyle Larson, who has significant history at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, won the race in an impressive fashion and was over the moon following the triumph.

Kyle Larson was the fifth fastest driver in the Qualifying, and went on to take the lead, later the race wins after a tough battle with Tyler Reddick and Kyle Busch. He was over the moon about kissing the bricks alongside his family and crew after the triumph. The Hendrick Motorsports star was recently asked how he would have felt about winning the race at Indy, if it was still a road course race.

He pointed out that he doesn’t know how he would have felt about a Brickyard win if it was a oval race and admitted that it wouldn’t have felt the same as he did after the Oval race win. The win this season felty more for him than any other potential triumph he could have had at the iconic race track.

I never won on the road course so I don’t know how my feelings would have been but I would imagine it wouldn’t have felt the same like winning on the oval. It just means so much more.

While further talking about the topic, Kyle Larson pointed out that he wouldn’t have kissed the bricks to celebrate a probable road course win at Indy like he did after the oval win. He is thankful that NASCAR decided to bring back the oval race.

I would have probably bent down and made myself look like I was kissing it but I don’t think I would have just because I think you should have to win on the oval to kiss the bricks. So, thankfully NASCAR brought it back.
