‘A lot of the tendencies are still the same,’ Kevin Harvick on the advantage he, Bubba Wallace, and Martin Truex Jr. will have at the Gateway next weekend

NASCAR will hit the 1.25 Miles, World Wide Technology Raceway also known as the Gateway in Maddison for the 15th round of the 2022 season. The track has different configurations on both sides as the Turn 1 and 2 are banked at 11 degrees while Turns 3 and 4 are banked at 9 degrees, will see drivers go all out in both the debut of the track in Cup Series as well as the debut of the Next-Gen car at the track.

Stewart Hass Racing Veteran Kevin Harvick is yet to secure either a win or a performance convincing enough when compared to the amazing seasons he had in the past will go to the track hoping to get his form back on track. He is also among the few drivers to have won both the Xfinity and Truck Series Races on the track.

Now the Cup Series champion has come forth to discuss how their previous experiences on the track will help the drivers and his thoughts on the track and Sunday’s race.

Kevin Harvick on his advantage at the Gateway

Kevin Harvick when asked about how the experience of winning races in Gateway either in Truck or Xfinity series can become helpful for the drivers such as Bubba Wallace, Cole Custer, Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr., etc who are race winners on the track.

The veteran acknowledged that the track has a lot of similar tendencies which haven’t changed and are unique to the track because of its layout. He pointed out that the basic characteristics of the track are still the same and the thongs to do also are very similar which can help the experienced drivers. He added that just adapting to the new car will be the biggest thing and what makes the car tick.

“A lot of the tendencies are still the same. I think that really has never changed because of the unique layout of the track. Those same basic characteristics will still be there and the things that you need to do will still be very similar. I think just adapting that to the new car will be the biggest thing and what makes it tick,” Kevin Harvick said.

Kevin Harvick acknowledged that the pavement of the track has been changed since the last race here and it will be interesting to see if they put resin down-or PJ1 down to make that top groove go. He went on to say that you have to race on the track keeping the car right next to the Curbs and carrying speed through the center of the corner.

“It’s different pavement than what I raced on a long time ago -ll be interesting to see if they put resin down-or PJ1 down to make that top groove go. But, for the most part, you want to be right next to those curbs and carry as much speed as you can through the center of the comer, and as much partial throttle until you can get the car rotated enough to be wide open. But you have to get through the center of the corner there,” Kevin Harvick said.
