New Hampshire Motor Speedway will be the newest track the Next-Gen cars set to make their debut as the “Magic Mille” will be hosting the 20th round of cup race this season, the Ambetter 301. The 1.058 miles cup race will surely be one competitive outing for the drivers as they fight for playoff spots and the regular season championship intensifies.
Team Chevy will be the most confident team going into the track as they have won the last cup races of the season with such dominance as the other two manufacturers are failing to give consistent competition in the races. Hendrick Motorsports, the leading chevy team for the last two decades has been their spearhead this season also as they secured 7 wins so far this season with all of their drivers securing the playoff spots.
Chase Elliott stands as the leading HMS driver with 3 wins to his name including the latest Atlanta Cup race win, while his teammate William Byron has two wins to his name. Reigning Cup champion Kyle Larson and teammate Alex Bowman have solo wins to their name which they surely are hoping to increase. Alex Bowman has been among the most consistent driver of HMs and he will be hoping to secure another win this coming Sunday at New Hampshire.
Find out what Alex Bowman had to say on the New Hampshire cup race
Alex Bowman acknowledged that they had a fast car at Atlanta until the flat tire took them out of the race as he reiterated how good the car was. He points out that the lack of practice time at the track constrained them from understanding the car even more but the way the NO:48 car run with the front row most of the race is a testament to the building capability of the HMS crew.
“We had a fast No. 48 Ally Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 last weekend at Atlanta (Motor Speedway). It was disappointing that we had a flat tire take us out of the race, but I can’t say enough about the car. We didn’t get the chance to get any laps in before the race to see where the car was, which was a challenge in itself. Being able to run up front all day speaks to the strength of Hendrick Motorsports and the crew who build our race cars,” Alex Bowman said.
Alex Bowman went on to say that though the race didn’t produce the result they wanted at Atlanta he is ready to hit the reset button and get them ready to fight for a position that can assure them the race with the strong car he will be getting.
“I know we didn’t have the result we wanted in Atlanta, but our team is going o give us another strong No. 48 Ally Chevy and we will go to New Hampshire (Motor Speedway), hit the reset button, and try to focus on putting ourselves in a position to win,” Alex Bowman added.
Alex Bowman’s crew chief Greg Ives talking about the race acknowledged that they are planning to have a race that is more fruitful just like their last outing. He points out that anytime a driver is in a track where you have historically struggled to get in the top five at the start but usually finish at the Top 10, it will be easy to replicate that result in the coming races.
“Last year, we had one of our best runs at New Hampshire (Motor Speedway) and I think we are capable of going back and doing it again. Anytime you go to a place that you have historically struggled at and start in the top-five and finish in the top-10, you can’t help but feel confident that you will be able to go out and replicate that performance,” Greg Ives said.
Greg Ives went on to say that their No:48 team has been building fast cars for a long time and they will be hoping to do the same as per their standards. He points out that though the next-Gen cars are different from last year they will still have a competitive edge over others at the track.
“Our team continues to build fast race cars and this week will be no different from our standards. The Next-Gen car makes things a little different than last year, but I think we have a good shot of being competitive again this year,” Greg Ives added.
