“Winning the Chili Bowl would be really special as an owner or a driver,” Alex Bowman is craving for Chilli Bowl win in his 7th entry
A P12 finish in the B-Main is the best-ever career result of Bowman in Chilli Bowl nationals and it came in 2022.
Alex Bowman
Hendrick Motorsports iconic No:48 team piolet Alex Bowman is getting himself ready for the 2023 cup season. He is helping out to return with a bang in 2023 after sitting out the majority of the post-season last year due to a concussion. Bowman is now in Tulsa, Oklahoma participating in the annual Chilli Bowl hoping to bag a win that can kickstart his season.
Bowman is fielding three entries in the premier midget racing event in the world. He will drive the 55X car for Alex Bowman Racing, and his other two entries will be piloted by Jake Swanson (55A) and C.J. Leary (55V). All three entries are sponsored by the cup driver’s primary sponsor All, which he inherited from legend Jimmie Johnson after his retirement in 2020.
One of the many things Bowman enjoys racing in the event is the atmosphere and chance to race with his friends. He told Hendrik Motorsports.com “I love the Chili Bowl for the atmosphere, the people. Pretty sure you could take the racetrack out of the building and I would still love it as much as I do. Just being able to go racing with my friends is a lot of fun,”.
Bowman is hoping for a solid weekend with reasonable expectations in the event. He says, “We have high expectations but not to the point where we make it not fun for ourselves. We do a pretty good job of being light-hearted and having a good time throughout the week,”
The MS driver dreams of walking out on Saturday with one of the three golden drills. He added, “Winning the Chili Bowl would be really special as an owner or a driver. To be the winner and be the one that walks out of there with the (Golden) Driller would be really special,”.

A friendly competition is going on between Bowman and his new crew chief Blake Harris in the Chili Bowl
Alex Bowman and his team are going against his new crew chief Blake Harris’s dad’s entries in the event. Last year the Harris family came out victorious in the battle among them and Bowman will be hoping for a sweet but friendly revenge against Blake. The event also allows Bowman to showcase his impressive car-building capabilities.
“We were talking just the other day when he was in here, he was right behind one of my dad’s cars in a B-Main last year. They were literally, out of all the cars there, running whatever position next to each other. I’m sure that will happen again. That’s just how it works out. We also talk a lot about everything that’s going on,” Blake Harris said,
“He loves the builds of those cars, and he puts a lot of time and effort and pride into being able to build one of the nicest pieces. I’m always asking him questions about his work and the builds there. I would say it is certainly a friendly competition,” Blake Harris added.
