NASCAR cup series outfits will make their way into the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway for the 17th round of cup racing this coming Sunday. The return of cars to the track following the mid-season break is expected to produce hardcore racing as the winless drivers so far this season will be going hard to secure a win that can guarantee them a place in the playoffs while the Championship front runners will be tightening the fight for the regular-season championship.
Austin Dillon, the No:3 Richard Childress Racing Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver, is among the winless drivers this season who has the ability and resources at their disposal to secure a win in any of the 10 coming races and secure a spot in the playoff as his playoff chances with the current position he is in now in the championship table is really low. As it has been with his teammate Tyler Reddick the 2022 season so far has been full of bad luck for Dillon as he came close to a win multiple times this season only to see it slide at the end.
Austin Dillon’s search for his 4th cup victory after a winless run last season has been among the most consistent drivers this season with 6 top 10 finishes in which 3 are inside the top 5 and 4 top 15 finishes earning him the P15 place in the championship he has now. Now going into Nashville, where Dillon had his first cup car test, the No:3 driver has expressed his love for the track and how much he is looking forward to the race.

Austin Dillon acknowledged that the Nashville Superspeedway kicked off his NASCAR cup career as he had one of his first cup tests on this ground and added that he still remembers the day going into the test with the team leading into the season, having a good time with the crew. He also pointed out that he had so much fun on the track with the three Truck series wins and the one P3 Xfinity race finish he has on the track.
“Nashville Superspeedway kicked off my NASCAR Cup Series career. One of my first Cup tests was at Nashville. I remember going there to test with the team leading into the season and having a really good time. We won there in the NASCAR Truck Series and finished third there in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. We had fun at Nashville,” Austin Dillon said.
He went on to say that the track was good for him though the cup races he competed in so far have been tough runs for him. Austin Dillon added that though they finished at a decent 12th place last time around they were and are capable of getting a better finish which he is looking forward to on Sunday in the track.
“It was a good track for me. I didn’t feel like the Cup race at Nashville was as good for our team as I had expected going into the race. We finished decent. I think we were 12th. But know we are capable of running better than that at Nashville so I’m looking forward to going back,” Austin Dillon added.
Austin Dillon added that the thing he finds cool in Nashville is that drivers fighting for the bottom lane which means they have to be disciplined throughout the race when things come to missing the corner in any exits. He went on to say that it will be a good thing to go back to the track once again with a year full of cup race season under his belt.
“I think what’s cool and what I enjoyed about Nashville is people fought for that bottom lane and you had to be disciplined and not miss your exit leaving the corner at Nashville. The car that rotated was pretty good. It’s been a good track for us in the past, and I think it will be interesting to go back with a year of Cup racing under our belt at the track,” says Austin Dillon.
