RFK Racing owner-driver Brad Keselowski has admitted that he isn’t fully satisfied with his team’s current state, as he expects more from the Ford side. The 2023 season has been a solid outing for the team, as they establish themselves as the most improved team in the Next-Gen era. RFK was arguably the op Ford team this year, though Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney won the championship.
Recently, when asked about his feelings about how RFK Racing has performed so far, Keselowski admitted that he has mixed reactions. He pointed out that he is both pleased and satisfied with their current state. Keselowski said that the year was of a mixed set of results for the team as there were moments where they had the fastest cars on the track after a slow start to the season.
I think the overarching theme is please not satisfied. Pleased with the progress, not satisfied with where we’re at. I felt like there were times last year where we didn’t look that great and then there were a lot of times last year, especially around the late summer where I felt like we looked like two of the best cars on the track.Keselowski said, as reported by On3.com.
The 2023 season personally hasn’t been the best for Keselowski despite showing impressive consistency as the 2012 Cup champion went winless for a second straight season. He was eliminated in the R-12 and ended the season with 16 top-10s. His teammate Chris Buescher finished the year with three wins.
Brad Keselowski explains why he isn’t satisfied with RFK Racing
Keselowski went on to detail that if they had clicked on the right time in the final stretch of races, both of the RFK cars would’ve been fighting for the title. He pointed out that he is pleased to say this, though, as the 2022 season was a different story compared this this year.
It didn’t all click when it needed to. That’s part of racing, that’s part of sports and life. If we get it all to click we can be a championship contender with both cars. So, pleased that we’re able to say that, we wouldn’t have been able to say that last year.
Keselowski said that is dissatisfied because the team failed to identify what would click for him in the important last eight races of the season.
But not satisfied that we weren’t able to realize it. Especially in those final eight races, or probably in the final four or six races. That’s the challenge for us ahead is getting us to a spot where we can realize that with results.
