2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick is among the most accomplished and talented drivers the sport has ever seen; He made his Cup series debut on the back of strong runs in the junior tiers replacing Dale Earnhardt in 2001 after his unfortunate death in the last lap of the season opener Daytona 500. Happy Harvick is set to retire at the end of the season.
2012 Cup series champion and RFK Racing co-owner Brad Keselowski, who has together produced some impressive moments at the track over the last decade, has given his take on the SHR veteran’s legacy as the former RCR driver is set to retire at the end of the season. The owner-driver believes he doesn’t see anyone else claiming Harvick’s sane status in the sport.
Keselowski said that Harvick had left a legacy in the sport by winning Cup, Xfinity, and Truck championships, which is rare. But the undisputed legacy of the driver will always be taking over Dale Sr at such a young age amidst a chaotic situation within the team and justifying his selection by writing a new chapter with RCR.
“He’s left a great legacy in our sport. He’s won a lot of races, a Cup championship, Xfinity titles, and truck titles as an driver and owner. That’s a pretty good mark that I don’t know anyone else can lay claim to, let alone taking over an iconic ride with Earnhardt’s car and all the pressures that came with that. With time, we’ll recognize him for the icon he is and was in our sport,” Brad Keselowski said at Michigan.

Kevin Harvick’s NASCAR legacy in stats
While stats don’t do justice to everything the No:4 Mustang driver has done in NASCAR, it does show his greatness. In his career over two decades in the premier division, the Closer has won more than anyone can imagine. From the 803 Cup starts, the 2014 Cup champion has won 60 races and finished inside the top 10 in more than half of those races.
In the Xfinity series, he has won 47 races from 349 starts and has finished inside the top 10 in 261 of those races. He won the Xfinity Series title, driving Kevin Harvick Incorporated and RCR Chevie in 2008, seven years after winning the title in 2001. In the Truck Series, he has scored 14 wins and 62 top 10s from 124 starts. He also won the 1998 K&N Pro Series championship as well.
The 2002 IROC champion is the all-time winner in Phoenix Raceway. He won the ESPY best driver of the Year award in 2015 after his championship-winning season, and this season he was named one of the 75 greatest drivers in the sport’s history. The future NASCAR Hall of Famer was also inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame this season.
