Ross Chastain seems to have made yet another enemy in the Cup grid. The No:1 Trackhouse Racing driver spun the part-time Cup driver Brennan Poole on the second stage, ending his day and making Hendrick Motorsports Kyle Larson’s day worse. Chastain was responsible for the incident, as the aggression at the time was unnecessary.

Since making his sensation debut with Trackhouse in 2022, the Watermelon Man has been one of the most improved and impressive on the field. At the same time, he has also earned the title of the most aggressive, as he often finds himself in aggressive battles with his rivals. Denny Hamlin of JGR was his main rival in 2023, so far as they continue their feud from 2022 to this season, and now Larson and Poole join the list.

Poole was infuriated after the incident and, in his post-race interview with Fox said that “He probably needs to get his butt whooped” about Chastain. The incident took on the 81st lap of the race, way early, considering it was a 400-laps race. The No:1 Chevy rear bumped the No:32 Rick Ware racing car, and Poole ended up in the outside wall. Kyle Larson, who was on the outside lane, slammed into him.

I’m not exactly sure, but I feel like I just got ran over. As soon as he ran into me, I just kind of got shoved into the corner, like way too deep, and then just immediately I was turned around. So, I think it was the No.1? Go figure,” Poole said.

I mean, just a joke… eighty-something laps into a race? No reason. I was side-by-side with the No. 3, just got to the outside and it’s not like I can go anywhere or give him any more room than what I had. He just ran me over. So, it’s kind of pathetic. I don’t know. It seems to be something Ross does a lot recently. Just uncalled for. It was my first time in a new Cup car, and 80 laps out… for what?” Poole added.

The Dover Monster mile marked the Next-Gen car debut of 32 years old Brennan Poole. The veteran driver is yet to establish himself in the premier division of Stock Car racing. The 2011 URA-Stars champion has a mediocre NASCAR career which is yet to see him score a win in all 3 series. He made his NASCAR debut in 2015 in the Xfinity Series, followed by the Truck Series. He had two solid years in the Xfinity Series, driving full-time for Chip Ganassi Racing.

He made his Cup debut and full-time debut in 2020 with Premier Motorsports. He was never able to excel other than in Superspeedways. His Cup career started and ended that year with a best finish in Talladega. Dover was his return to the top. He is scheduled to drive in the Kansas Cup race and will be hoping for a better result. In the meantime, he also needs to up his game in the Xfinity series driving full-time for JD Motorsports.
