Rajah Caruth made history on Sunday after he became the first African American driver since Bubba Wallace seven years ago to secure a win in the NASCAR Truck Series. He won the Las Vegas event, the third race of the season, and has secured his spot in the 2024 Truck playoffs.

Caruth, who is only the third black driver ever to win a NASCAR race, started the day on the pole and went on to have a tough battle with the likes of two times Cup champion Kyle Busch and Truck Veteran Ty Majeski, who won the first two stages of the day. Caruth’s win was the product of his impressive race craft and a solid race strategy from the team.

After the win, Bubba Wallace of 23XI Racing, who is the only other black driver on the grid, took it X to share his delight. He labeled it as a monumental win for NASCAR. Wallace, who is a mentor for Caruth, is happy beyond words to see the youngster on the victory lane.

Bubba Wallace’s confrontation at Daytona might’ve done the trick for Rajah Caruth

The 23XI driver was at the trackside for the inaugural Truck race of the season at Daytona International Speedway. The race saw Caruth finish P2 surviving a mega last-lap wreck that took out the majority of the field.

The wreck was caused by none other than Rajah Caruth who lost control of his car and made contact with his rivals. Fortunately, he was able to get out of the chaos unharmed but his rivals weren’t lucky enough.

Wallace was not at all happy with how it played out and soon after the race, he pulled Caruth to the side and confronted him. Caruth later came clean to Wallace and admired that he messed up. Since then he has made huge progress and now has a win to show for it.
