Bubba Wallace has refused to interview with NBC to discuss his race suspension from Vegas. the 23X1 Racing driver was banned from racing last Sunday in Miami. The penalty was imposed on him for retaliating against Kyle Larson which ended in a dangerous wreck. He also shoved Larson multiple times during his confrontation.
NBC approached Bubba Wallace for a zoom interview in Countdown to Green pre-race show in Miami. But the TRD driver refused to do so. Wallace might have decided to not attend the interview, as the show’s co-host and Wallace former boss Kyle Petty had some harsh opinions to share regarding his suspension being less severe.
Kyle Petty pointed out that Wallace let his boss Denny Hamlin down with his actions. Hamlin has been vocal about drivers’ safety throughout 2022. Petty wanted Bubba Wallace suspended for the rest of the season and pointed out that he also deserves suspension for dangerously walking across the track. He also demanded action against Wallace for physically confronting Larson.
“He should have been suspended for the rest of the year. Rest of the year… First, you intentionally wreck somebody. That’s a suspension. He’s walking across the race track and cars are going by him on both sides. That’s not safe. That should be another suspension… That’s a physical confrontation. If I do that on the sidewalk, I’m in handcuffs somewhere,” Kyle Petty said.

Kyle Petty opens up on Bubba Wallace’s apology and his refusal to do the interview

Kyle Petty expressed similar opinions on the pre-race show about his suspension and when he was informed about Bubba Wallace’s refusal, he expressed his feelings on the whole situation. He expressed his appreciation to Wallace for apologizing. But the veteran remains Cynical as he pointed out that Bubba hasn’t publicly spoken about the incident.
“I applaud Bubba and I applaud 23XI for putting this out. But in a world, and I’m cynical — so let’s just go ahead and say that — in a world of social media where we post everything, silence sometimes says more than the words that are written and we have heard nothing from Bubba Wallace since this incident happened,” Kyle Petty said.
Kyle Petty went on to express his appreciation towards Denny Hamlin for speaking publicly on the incident for 23X1 Racing. But he still thinks the silence from the 23X1 and Bubba’s camp is deafening.
“We have heard nothing publicly, until yesterday, Denny Hamlin finally spoke up, and kudos to Denny Hamlin for speaking up on behalf of 23XI. But the silence from that camp has been deafening,”.
