The 2023 season marked Bubba Wallace’s best performance in NASCAR since his 2014 NASCAR Truck Series championship with Kyle Busch’s KBM. He made it to the playoff R-12 in his maiden entry, which was the goal set for him by team owners Denny Hamlin and Michael Jodan at the start of this season.
Wallace has received applause from everyone in the NASCAR community for his impressive rise in performance, but the 23XI Racing star isn’t happy because he failed to secure a win this year. He had won one race each in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, but poor luck and costly mistakes cost him a shot at a win this year.
Wallace while talking about the same to NASCAR.com recalled the 2023 season and gave his opinion on it. He admitted that he is being approached by people in NASCAR reminding him how good he was in 2023, but the young and hungry racer in him is finding it hard to digest the fact that his best Cup season ended without a win.
Everybody I see in the industry the last couple days have come up to me and continued to remind me how good the season was, and it is when you peel back the layers and look at it. We checked a lot of boxes, but I don’t know if it’s just me being young and hungry, but I got zero wins. So that bugs the hell out of me.
Bubba Wallace is proud of 23XI’s season and excited for 2024
Wallace admitted that he had a good run in the 2023 season and he is proud of what his No:23 Toyota Camry crew has been able to achieve. The TRD star is enjoying his downtime during the post-season and is excited for the upcoming season.
But yeah, I mean, we made a good run, proud of the efforts from the team. It was a good year. I’m so excited to … not get it started yet because I’m enjoying the downtime, but I’m excited for the next one to start.
Going into the next season the primary objective of Bubba Wallace will be to secure a win and end the winless run that started at Kansas last year. If he can keep his 2023 momentum next year and the team fields faster cars consistently a victory can be easily achieved.
