The NASCAR Cup race at Richmond on Sunday was an eventful race that Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin defeating teammate Martin Truex Jr. to secure a win on his home track in overtime. One of the negatives from the race was a stage two caution call from NASCAR, which most in the NASCAR garage deems un-necessary.

Midway to the second stage, Richard Childress Racing’s Kyle Busch got into the wall and NASCAR quickly called caution. But it wasn’t a situation that warranted it as, the Two times champion got control of his car back and was already driving properly on the top-lane. Freddie Kraft, the spotter of 23XI Racing’s Bubba Wallace, slammed NASCAR for the poor decision making via his podcast.

I don't know two weeks ago guys creeping around there that's no caution. This guy goes up, soon I watched that because like I don't know where you were at on the racetrack...And we've seen it before even when it's not wet TJ you get once you get up high enough at Richmond like it's you're just kind of along for the ride until you can Get it get back underneath you. And I just watched some kind of this skate up the racetrack and brush the wall and as soon as he touched the wall And I was like you gotta be kidding me.
Freddie Kraft said via DBC.

Kraft has all the right to be mad as it wasn’t just an unnecessary call, as it changed the race for many including Wallace. The Toyota team had pitted early and the incident made them change the whole strategy for the event. Lack of consistency in decision making on similar situation has been a point of discussion in NASCAR.

Freddie Kraft demands consistency from NASCAR

The veteran spotter later demanded more consistency from NASCAR has he pointed out that the sanctioning body has left such situation untouched in the past. He also highlighted the suggestion from Dale Earnhardt Jr. to fix the situation, which is to have a guy on the race booth just to call caution. Craft reckons the current system with multiple hands on deck from NASCAR isn’t working properly.

You can't honestly tell me that that needs to be a caution in the 77 doesn't need to be caution. I don't give a which way it is, but it's one or the other like we all we asked for is Consistency and we cannot get it and the only way. And maybe it's to Dale's point We need one guy in the booth to do it. But obviously I know they want to train other people you want to have multiple people that can do the job But this is the problem when you have multiple people do job nobody knows when the cautions gonna come out.
Freddie Kraft said.

NASCAR has to either set the Kyle Busch incident as the baseline for the coming days or they should admit it was a mistake. Consistency should be prioritised as the wrong caution call often messes the whole race of a team. With stage points on the play as well, teams shouldn’t be penalized for incident they have had no hands in.
