“Can’t let this opportunity pass,” Former NASCAR driver set to ‘race’ for senate
Hermie Sadler and Elliott Sadler
Former NASCAR driver and wrestling promoter Hermie Sadler is set to run for the Virginia state Senate. The sports entertainer turned entrepreneur will be the Republican party candidate for the 17th state Senate District, Virginia. Hermie Sadler has officially kick-started his campaign and raised more than $125,000.
Hermie Sadler entered the senate running to get more representation in his county in the senate. He said, “We can’t let this opportunity pass by to have more focus and attention put on areas in and around Southside Virginia because, in my view, this area has been underrepresented in the Senate for way too long,”.
Sadler wishes to stand in and fight for the region’s problems. He said, “We have our own set of problems and our own set of needs, and I feel like somebody needs to stand up and make sure those needs are heard and represented in the Senate of Virginia. That’s why I have decided to get off the sidelines and get in the race,”.
Hermie Sadler has produced some impressive runs in National series in his career
Hermie is a Xfinity series veteran who has raced in both the cup and truck series. He ran full-time in the second-tier NASCAR series from 1993 to 1998. In his 16-year-long Xfinity career, he has secured two race wins and 44 top-10 finishes from 266 starts. Three of his race starts were in pole. His highest finishing season was in 1994 when he finished 5th in the standings. His last Xfinity outing came in 2019.
Sadler has made over NASCAR cup series starts and has only one Top 20 finish. He raced in the cup series in 2018 in the First Data 500 at Martinsville. He has one appearance for Richard Childress Racing in the cup series under his belt. He has one top-10 finish from his 16 Truck race appearance. He last appeared in the series back in 2010.
The most impressive achievement of his racing career was the 1993 NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year award. He failed to fulfill his real racing potential and was just a part-time backmarker in most races in his career. He also worked as the pit side reporter for Fox Sports in Truck and Xfinity series.
