The NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway saw a massive pile-up on the last lap. The incident was caused by Spire Motorsports’ young driver Carson Hocevar. This pile-up ruined Team Penske’s 2022 Daytona 500 winning driver Austin Cindric‘s race. The Ford driver’s car was massively damaged.

The incident occurred after Carson Hocevar went too deep into Front Raw Motorsports driver Kaz Grala, which led to Austin Cindric making contact. Even after such a massive incident, NASCAR didn’t throw out a yellow flag, which added to the No:2 Ford Mustang’s woes.

The substantial damage that Cindric revived due to this ended his possible top-15 finish into a 23rd-place finish that was massively disappointing. It would’ve given the young driver some much needed positive momentum if he was able to bag a top-15, as he hasn’t secured a such a finish since his P4 run in the second race of the season at Atlanta.

The driver seemed to be pretty disappointed as he was running inside the top 15 and finally looked to be on it throughout the weekend. The damage was definitely a massive blow for No :2 Ford Mustang Dark Horse’s garage.

Somebody probably made it three wide, and wrecked me and a couple of other guys. That’s what happened. Can’t do anything about getting wrecked at the end of a race.
Austin Cindric said.

The American also added how he thought he had good pace throughout the NASCAR Cup Series weekend, but how his bad strategy call jeopardized his race even further. What makes this result more disheartening is the fact that his champion teammates, Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano finished inside the top-10. He has promised to try to bounce back during the next NASCAR Cup Series race in Texas.
