Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Logano raised some eyebrows when he came forward claiming the fans of the sport enjoy the most access than any other sporting event. He went on to suggest that the fans of the premier stock car racing series are kind of spoiled by this all-access they are getting on the track.
2023 Truck Series championship-4 entrant and future No:77 Spire Motorsports Chevy driver Carson Hocevar has come up with a stern response to the Ford driver’s claims. He refuted the argument that NASCAR offers the most access of any other sports on the garage via an X post. The Chevy star highlighted how the foul balls in baseball and field innovation in football offer the respective fans more access.
He asserted that the access there is on the grid for fans, even for the VIP fans, is very limited. Hocevar pointed out that fans get very limited or no time to engage with drives on the grid, as the races are often fulfilling their media duties at the same time. He pointed out that average NASCAR fans deserve the local short-track race kind of experience where they can freely interact with drivers post-race.
Our access is good, but not the best, and not full access to the average fan, and when we take notice of that we will able to make progress. our fans are one of the most loyal fans, they should be treated as such.Hocevar wrote on X.
Carson Hocevar names two tracks that do a good job for the fans
Hocevar went on to point out that Bristol and Martinsville are two tracks that do commendable work when it comes to giving fans a good experience. He later highlighted that it is the responsibility of drivers and the teams to make sure that fans who come to see them race have a good experience.
Now I don’t like being so negative and there are positives and examples of doing things right. Bristol and Martinsville do it right. post-race there is a LINE of fans hoping to see their favorite driver walking out. problem is, 50-80% are on golf carts which falls on the responsibility of drivers and teams to do better, but just some like that adds a lot of value and adds energy to the experience.

Both Logano and Hocevar have made some points with their argument. Logano was explaining the superior experience fans are having at the moment compared to other sports, while Hocevar sees more opportunities to forge better fan-driver relations. At the end of the day, racing is about making sure fans are happy and it should be a priority,
