The NASCAR Cup grid will visit the Charlotte Motorspeedway this weekend for the final race of the Round of 12. Only 8 of the 12 cup drivers will progress to the next round. The limited spots left to make each point earned at ROVAL will be vital for drivers with championship hopes.

Other than Alex Bowman who is ruled out due to concussion, all three drivers below the cutline, Austin Cindric, Chase Briscoe, and Christopher Bell will be fighting hard to earn front-row finishes. The Ford duo of Cindric and Briscoe, who are playoff rookies, are level in points.

Chase Briscoe, has been impressive for Stewart Hass Racing throughout the season. He is the last hope for SHR in the playoffs. The No:14 racer will be hoping to secure the win that has been eluding him since Phoenix. He will also have to be watchful of stage points to enter Round of 8.

Chase Briscoe pointed out that staying out of trouble is his plan for ROVAL as the track offers chaos such as the superspeedways. He said,Stay out of trouble. There can be a lot of chaos at the Roval, just like we see at superspeedways and some of the bigger tracks. You can lose a ton of positions on restarts and certain turns. If you miss a turn, it can put you behind,”.

Chase Briscoe added that missing out on stage points or a bottom playoff table driver winning will be catastrophic for them. He said, “We just need to run a good race and stay out of trouble. We’re not in a terrible position to be able to advance but we also can’t have a bad day. It’s tough to gain points but all it takes is us not getting stage points and one of the guys in the bottom four spots winning to knock us out,”.

Briscoe revealed that the cars have been holding them back from producing the best in road courses. He said, “It’s honestly just this car. It’s not anything we were doing that took away the advantage I felt I had come to road courses. This car is made to drive better on those kinds of tracks. It used to be I could find areas to gain on guys under braking or figure out how to drive in harder and make a pass,”.

Chase Briscoe said that he just has to stay in contention for the win until the end to progress in the playoff. He said, “The bigger brakes and things like that make it so much easier for everyone to do those things. So, I don’t know if there’s anything we need to figure out. We just have to run our race and try to be there with a shot at the end,”.
